Chiang Rai Golf Holidays
The northernmost province of Thailand, Chiang Rai is situated on the Kok River basin 416 metres above sea level. With an area of some 11,678 square Kilometres. It is about 785 Kilometres from Bangkok. Mostly mountainous, it reaches the Mae Khong River to the north and borders on both Myanmar and Laos. We only play at two golf courses in Chaing Rai so it is ideal for a mini-break to add on to your holiday. Both courses are excellent and the climate during winter is like a fine English summer’s day – warm with little or no humidity.
The province is rich in tourism resources in terms of natural attractions and antiquities and evidence of its past civilisation. It is also home to several hill tribes who follow fascinating ways of life. Chiang Rai is also a tourism gateway into Myanmar and Laos.
Chaing Rai is much quieter than Chiang Mai. It has a very comfortable climate during the winter months – you might even need a light sweater when walking around at night. The city is charming and very clean. The night market is a great place to eat and enjoy traditional Thai music and dancing.
Golf Courses in Chiang Rai
Chaing Rai has two fine golf courses so it is a good destination for a 3 to 5 day short break. Santiburi Chiang Rai is a beautiful championship course that is always excellent and Waterford will provide a different challenge. Chiang Rai has a great golfing climate with little to no humidity during the winter months. It is like playing on a fine summer’s day in the UK.
Santiburi Golf Club – Chiangrai

Santiburi offers an aesthetic feast for the golf connoisseur. The golf course is world class, yet it is playable and enjoyable for golfers on every skill level. Set into the contours of a valley, it winds beneath a canopy of magnificent shady trees and across crystal clear lakes and streams.
Waterford Valley Golf Club – Chiangrai
Waterford Valley Golf Course is 40 minutes from the city of Chiang Rai in one of Thailand’s most attractive and coolest areas. The Waterford golf course is built upon a plateau surrounded by lush valleys and mountains. The beautiful mountains of the North provide a pleasant distraction to a day on the fairways, which themselves are surrounded by trees, shrubs and bushes and make this 7,100 yard, par 72 championship layout one of the most scenic in Thailand.
Koh Samui Golf Holidays
There is only one golf course on Koh Samui but it is a stunning one! Venue for the Bangkok Airways Open, Santiburi Samui winds across the mountain offering a spectacular jungle layout with views of the Andamman Sea.
Koh Samui is a very popular beach holiday destination with top class resorts and spas. With flights from Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya, it is a good choice for a mini-break to chill out and play the stunning golf course. It is very much a tourist destination so don’t expect deserted beaches! However, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to keep you entertained.
Santiburi Samui
Santiburi Samui Country Club is a championship golf course landscaped on the mountain of Samui Island. Each of the 18 holes on this 6,930 yards, par-72 course, has its own unique character and challenges. From steep uphill and downhill slopes to winding fairways that cuts into the coconut forest to cliffs and mountain creeks, Santiburi Samui Country Club is simply one of the most unique golf courses in Asia. It is a challenging course with many changes in elevation so you need to be fit and bring your A game to this course. Hitting it straight is the order of the day and don’t bother looking for your ball in the jungle!
River Kwai and Kanchanaburi Golf Holidays
The River Kwai is a popular tourist destination for sightseeing and the Second World War history. One of Thailand’s most spectacular provinces, Kanchanaburi is extremely popular with backpackers, independent travellers and Thais alike. The province boasts numerous national parks, spectacular mountain and riverine scenery and a near endless collection of caves and waterfalls. Pack your books, mosquito repellent and sunscreen — this is a great province for nature lovers.
Aside from parks and their waterfalls, the main town of Kanchanaburi is best known for the World War II-era Death Railway. Thousands died during its construction and there are a couple of cemeteries and an outstanding museum dedicated to this portion of Kanchanaburi’s heritage. The Hellfire Pass Museum is a must-see.
We offer a selection of the better golf courses in the region to create a mini-break that can be combined with Hua Hin, Bangkok or Pattaya for a two or 3 centre golf holiday.
River Kwai Golf Courses
This 18 hole course has been constructed around working mine. It is an intriguing landscape with the lake featuring on many of the holes. Accuracy off the tee is essential and you need to bring plenty of golf balls! Par 72 championship course. It is a very different layout with many interesting holes.
Mission Hills Golf Club is the golf course with 18 holes designed by Jack Nicklaus in Kanchanaburi. The 18 holes with undulating fairways are laid out on the flat fields and separated with grown up palm trees. The course is well-presented and playable by golfers of all abilities. Mature palms line the fairways of this River Kwai golf course, which relies on water, sand, trees and, Nicklaus’ specialty, waste bunkers for its hazards.
The Nichigo Golf Resort is situated along the River Kwai. The 27 holes (Lake, River and Mountain courses) are perfectly fitted into the spectacular landscape of Kanchanaburi. For many golfers visiting Thailand the charm of a course is just as important as the technical challenge; Nichigo combines both. The many dog legs, side hill and up hill fairways, and well bunkered greens add to the course difficulty.
