2014 Ryder Cup: Europe vs USA Pattaya 5 & 7 November
The 13th Solar Golf Ryder Cup competition will take place at Pattana (4 ball and Scramble) on Wednesday 5th November and Burapha Golf Club (singles) on Friday 7th November. This historic event sees USA with 7 victories to Europe 4 with 1 draw.
Programme
Sunday 2nd November – Registration evening at Secrets Nightclub – located just off Walking Street on Soi 14. You can register and pay between 8pm and 10pm.
Monday 3rd November – Practice round at Burapha Golf Club. Pick up from 09.00 so please let us know where you are staying. This year we are offering all our Ryder Cup players the opportunity to invite a caddy to play golf with them. Burapha has some caddies that are good golfers who will join you for a round. You can also book the same caddy for the Ryder Cup round at Burapha on Friday. Thanks to great support from Burapha, we are offering some very special rates for two players – caddy and golfer at 3,700 baht for both golfer and caddy. If you do not want to invite a caddy the rate will be 2,700 baht per player. These rates include transport from your hotel and back, green fee, caddy and cart. Caddy tip extra – we recommend a minimum 400 baht.
Please book by Friday 31st October and let us know if you would like us to arrange a caddy to play golf with you.
Tuesday 3rd November – Captains (Duncan Mathieson and Robert Williams) will select their teams at Tara Court. Timing at their discretion.
Wednesday 5th November – Ryder Cup Day One at Pattana. Pick up at 09:30 from Tara Court and The Avenue on Second Road. 2 way start at 11.00 am. 9 holes four ball and 9 holes Texas scramble – 2 player teams.
Friday 7th November – Ryder Cup Day Two at Burapha. Pick up at 09.00 from Tara Court and The Avenue Second Road. 2 way start at 10.30am. 18 holes singles competition played in groups of 4. 2 x 9 holes matches will be played with the opponents switching after 9 holes.
We will lay on a barrel of beer and a pig roast next to the green on hole C9 so that you can have a beer and snack while watching your team mates finish their round. When everyone has finished, showered and changed we will return to the pick-up venues. The trophy presentation will take place in Secrets at 9pm and will continue long into the night. Secrets will be providing some snacks for the golfers during the evening.
Ryder Cup entry costs 6,900 baht per player and includes 2 green fees, caddy fees and carts, team polo shirt, transport between pick up locations and golf course, pig roast and beer at Burapha Golf Club and the party at Secrets.

We know that our golf hounds will want to play more than just the Ryder Cup so here are the extra rounds we have arranged for you:
Saturday 1st November – Eastern Star Golf Club
This Trent Jones gem is now in excellent condition and is a perfect course for the early arrivals to start their golf holiday. We are offering a very special rate of 2,700 baht including green fee, caddy, cart and transport. A real bargain for weekend golf! Pick up from 0915. We may stop in Bang Chang for cocktails on the return journey.
Thursday 6th November – Siam Plantation Golf Club
A real favourite with Solar Golfers and selected as the venue for the 2015 Thailand Open, we have booked a few tee times on the rest day between the Ryder Cup days. The rate will be 4,800 baht including green fee, caddy, cart and transport. Pick up from 10.30.
Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th November
We will be happy to organise golf for anyone who wants to play at the weekend. Greenwood is very good value at weekends and Phoenix is a short journey for late risers. Another option is to tee off at 3pm at Laem Chabang and finish our round under floodlights. Just let us know what you desire and we will do our best to oblige.
Monday 10th November – Misty’s Open at Bangpra This ever popular individual stableford competition will take place at the delightful Bangpra Golf Club. The troop of monkeys always look forward to our visit after Steve O took out one of their gang with a worm burner! We will tee off as four balls at 12 noon so departure from Pattaya will be 10.30. There will be a finger buffet and a really fun evening in Misty’s a Go Go starting around 9pm. The entry cost will be 2,900 baht per player including green fee, caddy fee, cart, transport, buffet and prize giving. Trophy for the winner and some feature prizes.
Tuesday 9th November onwards
We have a lot of tee times booked in Pattaya that individuals can join. Just let us know when you would like to play and we will be pleased to join you with fellow golfers. We also have the option of a two day, 1 night trip to Bangkok to play the Alpine and Royal Gems City. The Alpine is one of Asia’s top courses and Royal Gems features signature holes from the world’s top courses combined with the back 9 from Augusta. They are both private members’ courses but Solar Golf have access to both of them if we can get a group of 6 or more golfers interested in playing the courses. We would stop over for the night in the Sukhumvit area between rounds. Price will depend upon how many of you would like to play.
